Brave Conversations began in 2017 and have been held around the world since then. It started with the goal of bringing the conversations of the Web Science Conferences to the public space and, since then, has worked with communities to explore how technologies are changing their lives and how they, in turn, are changing those technologies.

We are happy to welcome Brave Conversations to Stuttgart-Vaihingen this year, where they, following tradition, will be anchored within the Web Science Conference 2024.

How It Works

The best way to learn is through experience and the act of playing with ideas, imagining, challenging, and being creative. The things that humans do best.

If possible, please bring a digital device (e.g., tablet, laptop, etc.) to Brave Conversations on May 21, 2024.

Ages 13 and up
This event is free of charge, but registration is required.

Engaging with the Public - Knowledge Transfer

IRIS aims to critically reflect on intelligent systems, their foundations, mechanisms, and effects with regard to larger societal contexts. Since the development and use of intelligent systems have the potential to fundamentally change our society, IRIS also seeks to initiate public debates on questions of responsible design of intelligent systems and to provide a forum for dialogue and knowledge transfer between science and society.

Here you can find more details about our diverse, upcoming public engagement activities as well as see what we've offered in the past. Our public events and activities in knowledge transfer are supported by the International Center for  Cultural and Technological Studies (IZKT).

We send out a newsletter at irregular intervals with information on IRIS events. To make sure you don't miss anything, simply enter your e-mail address. You will shortly receive a confirmation e-mail to make sure that you really are the person who wants to subscribe. After receiving your confirmation, you will be added to the mailing list. This is a hidden mailing list, which means that the subscriber list can only be viewed by the administrator.

Note: It is not possible to process your subscription to the newsletter without providing your e-mail address. The information you provide is voluntary and you can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time.
