SUMMARY:Web of Deception: An Interactive Simulation to Promote Media Literacy Among Students
DESCRIPTION:The "Web of Deception" project is an app-based educational program designed to help children and teenagers navigate the internet safely and thoughtfully. The focus is on topics such as fake news, deepfakes, social media, and the handling of personal data. Through a low-threshold, playful approach, the content is presented in a realistic way, so that students not only acquire knowledge but also actively learn to question digital information and evaluate it independently.\nThe goal of the project is to strengthen children’s and teenagers’ awareness of cybersecurity as well as their critical thinking skills. They should be empowered to recognize manipulative content, assess risks online, and handle their data responsibly. The program is implemented in the form of interactive modules that incorporate playful elements and decision-making scenarios. Teachers are actively involved in the development process to ensure direct integration into the “Computer Science and Media Education” curriculum.\nThe project is currently in the development phase, and initial content has already been designed. The next step is a pilot phase in schools, during which the program will be tested and further developed. As part of this informational event, we would therefore like to incorporate your perspectives as teachers and parents to take into account practical needs and experiences. Finally, there will be an opportunity for questions, feedback, and a discussion about potential collaboration.
